Van Buren Place
[As part of the remit to make the Untold LA iPad Book available to as many people as possible I'll be posting pages from the book in sequential order on a regular basis until it is completely online.]
The iPad Book is broken up into 11 main Chapters, with each Chapter focusing on a different neighborhood in the West Adams District. The first neighborhood we visit is Van Buren Place, (well actually I cover just one block, wanted to start off slow with a small area that encapsulated many of the ideas you'll find in the book).
Each 'Chapter Heading' page contains a photo from the neighborhood, an interactive map that shows you where in West Adams the neighborhood is as well as providing links to relevant sites on the Net, and a video, usually between 5 and 15 minutes long, where I talk about my reasons for shooting in the neighborhood and give background information about the history of the homes and the area.
Above you can see a photograph 1910 Craftsman designed by Frank Tyler that I used as the photo-background for the Chapter opening, below you can watch the Video Introduction and see how the page looks in the completed iBook.
